Over-ear headphones

Unlike on-ear headphones which rest snugly on the ear, over-ear headphones envelop the ear entirely. This allows for an especially rich sound and better noise blocking properties.

Open headphones

Closed headphones

Semi-open headphones

Semi-open headphones strike a compromise between open and closed constructions.
